Downtown Kincardine is the location of an original town hall and auditorium, now known as the
Kincardine Centre for the Arts. This is home to the Bluewater Summer Playhouse and the
Kincardine Threatre Guild, as well as the Victoria Park Arts Gallery and the Scougall Collection of
heritage photography. Immediately behind the old Town Hall is Victoria Park which accommodates
numerous gatherings, including Saturday evening summer concerts with the famous Kincardine
Scottish Pipe Band. Established in 1908, for around a century the band has conducted Saturday
evening parades in the months of July and August to the delight of thousands of visitors and
local residents. Across the street from the Kincardine Centre for the Arts is a new park called
Queens Lookout which provides the best view of Lake Huron and it’s magical sunsets anywhere
along the coast. Some of the community’s finest historic homes and gardens are located on
Princes Street, just north of Victoria Park.
In the summer visitors and residents alike enjoy the picturesque streets and bricked sidewalks of historic downtown Kincardine and Tiverton which are adorned with colourful flower baskets and beds provided by businesses and by the town of Kincardine and Village of Tiverton’s award-winning Communities in Bloom committees. In fact, the town of Kincardine has won the most awards in Canadian history of the Communities in Bloom competitions.
Summer also brings professional musicians, students and their families to the Kincardine Summer Music Festival for classical and jazz music and an artist's workshop in August as well as other annual events like the Kincardine Scottish Festival and Highland Games, the Massed Pipe Band Gathering, Doors Open Kincardine, Fish Kincardine Derby, Kincardine Cruise Night and Energy Solutions Expo. On the lakeshore visitors and residents can stroll along Lover's Lane, on the north side of the harbour, just pass the beautiful Rock Garden which was built in 1931 or along the beautiful lake side boardwalk on the south side of the harbour, planted and gorgeously maintained by our residents.
